What follows is a summary describing the curriculum to be used,
which has been developed by the United Church of Canada:
Climb aboard as
children sail the sometimes smooth, sometimes stormy seas of
faith. They will learn that becoming a disciple of Jesus
and sharing the Good News in the world is a challenge that
requires commitment and courage and often leads to change.
Five half-day sessions
Children begin
each session in harbour with other adventurers in their sailboat
where they are immediately engaged in an activity that leads
into the day's theme:
1. Changing to
Become a Friend of Jesus--Saul discovers the story of Jesus and
becomes his friend.
2. Friends of
Jesus Help Each Other to be Safe--Paul and his friends escape in
a basket lowered over a wall.
3. Friends of
Jesus Share Messages of Love and Hope for a Better
World--Barnabas and Paul journey across the sea and back to tell
of Jesus showing God's love.
4. Friends of
Jesus Share Special Meals Together--Stories of Lydia and Paul's
shipwreck.
5. Friends of
Jesus Celebrate Good News--A review of all the stories of Paul
and the new stories of Jesus' followers created throughout the
week.
The session ends
with all of the adventurers gathered beneath the lighthouse
around a campfire for a time of closing songs and prayers.
